Formulation, Evaluation and Release Kinetics of Low Viscosity Metronidazole Gel with Varying Amount o f Carbopol

Objective: The study is centered on formulation and evaluation of low viscosity metronidazole gel with varying amount Carbopol. Methods: Formulations (F1, F2 F3) Metronidazole in form were done amounts Prepared gels inspected for surface pH, viscosity, spreadability, antimicrobial susceptibility, drug content percentage, vitro process release, release kinetics stability testing. Findings: Formulation pH was placed between 5 6. Measured F3 34.16 Pa.sec high-rise Carbopol & F1 it 33.43 30.44 respectively. Highest spreadability achieved which 9.72 gm.cm/sec 7.3 6.62 gm.cm/sec. Release (In vitro) report F1, F2, 91.945 %, 89.612 % 88.598 respectively 120 minutes study. Drug scrutinized by First Order model, Zero Higuchi Hixon- Crowell model Korsmeyers-Peppas model. Novelty: This formulates using polymer can alter pattern better way. Study focused improvement linked easy absorption to the application area. Low aqueous spread easily.
